For many real estate investors, both new and experienced, joining a Real Estate Investors Association, or REIA, is a very important step that can pay dividends in a major way. You can find a local REIA in most major cities, and they can be especially helpful for those just getting started in real estate investing.
Many of these groups offer various training, seminars, guest speakers and help from other members who are experienced real estate investors. Having access to others who have been there and done that is an invaluable way for newer investors to avoid many common mistakes. Despite the advantages, many new real estate investors that I speak with have not joined one of these groups, nor have they looked into it. Today we are going to look at the top three reasons why you should join a real estate investing club or association.
The top reason for joining a local REIA is networking. This is a group of people who are all focused on the same task – real estate investing. Many of the members are going to be seasoned professionals who have been investing for years. Even better, these people are going to share their experience and advice with you freely. Not only does this mean advice, but also referrals. Referrals are a great way to jump start your investing career – not having to search for people who provide the service you need with a high level of professionalism is huge!
The next reason to join a local REIA is for the education it can provide. Through seminars, classes, training and more, these associations are there to help you succeed. Real estate investing can be a tough business, and good training is hard to come by. These associations are put together to help you succeed, so the training and education they can provide is invaluable.
If you need another reason to join your local association, consider the valuable information you can obtain on the local markets. Sure, you can buy books, take online classes, go to larger real estate seminars and whatnot, but all of that information is going to be general information, geared towards the general markets. When you join a local association you are going to be networking with local investors. These are people who have their boots on the ground in the area you want to invest in. They are going to know the local real estate markets inside and out, and can likely offer some great insight on the local markets that you can put to good use.
Joining one of these groups is easy, and is something every real estate investor should do. Whether you are a veteran or a new investor, you will find valuable information and connections that will help you grow your real estate investing business.
